I was born and raised in Northern New Jersey by immigrants. I mention the immigrant part because it does make a difference in your upbringing if your parents don’t get what Prom is. There is a significant difference at lunch time when the other kids have turkey sandwiches and yours is a milanesa sandwich. There’s fun differences that you may understand if you were also raised by immigrants. You may catch these references and enjoy.
I moved out on my own shortly after turning 18. Within a year of moving out I was working in Film & Television Production in New York City and within 2 years of that I moved to Los Angeles. I moved to LA to have an adventure. I moved to explore being out on my own, explore TV production, to soul search and find myself, to explore marijuana and other mind-altering substances, to be independent, to dance and to live on the beach.
It turns out that for the same rent as living in a studio on the beach, you get three times the real estate in the suburbs. Turns out being on your own is really, really tough and I am not great at managing my own money (just others’ money). Truth is being on your own, thousands of miles away from home can be super lonely. Turns out that your immediate family is the best and only group of people you can rely on. Family is forever and you can always depend on that. Turns out that drugs only pretend to fill the void, the void is still there after you come down. Turns out all kinds of Production is still the circus.
So I’m a little more grown up now, I suppose. Still in Los Angeles (after 2 or 3 attempts to “move back east” and running back into the warm arms of LA). I’m a superstar single mom. Still working in the circus but with a comfy place in the suburbs.
In the age of MySpace, I discovered my “Blog”. It was probably what I liked the most about it. I’ve always been into writing and journaling and really enjoyed being able to post thoughts. Thoughts about my life, what was going on, my relationships & family. Just ranting emotionally but with a chance to enjoy Readers. I really enjoyed knowing that people were reading what I had to say and sometimes had opinions worth sharing with me. Eventually, that account got shut down one angry and emotional moment where things got too personal. Years later I was missing having a Blog and was directed to Live Journal where ALLEYCATZ INSIDES was born and I was happily journaling again. I just recently moved it here so it would be easier to manage all my blogs on one site. I’m also hoping I will post more frequently having it here.
So this is my blog. This is where I rant aimlessly over random occurrences, meaningful events, people, and the female psyche in general. Enjoy. Just laugh, don’t judge.
